for me! wow!

Some of those on your list look intriguing. You'll have to tell me how they are. Here are the books on your list that I have and am happy to lend you: :)

How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents, The House on Mango Street, Memoirs of a Geisha, Poisonwood Bible, Beloved, and The Red Tent.

Here are books you should add to your list:

Hope's Edge by Frances Moore Lappe and Anna Lappe (I'm reading this now)

Animal Dreams by Barbara Kingsolver

and, mi hermanita, how could you forget??? Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, by J.K. Rowling!

Priorities, my friend, priorities.

Wow--what a list! I'm printing it up to add some of these to mine. And "Tortilla Curtain" should be bolded--it was excellent. (Get it from your 'other mother', Anne M. I did!)

Love your reading list...The Red Tent is amazing. Definitely go for that one...and you've read Mountains Beyond Mountains right? Otherwise, that one is a must.

What a treat to find my book on your discerning list (albeit nearly a year later). I hope you enjoyed it and perhaps found a cause you can affect with simple, daily actions. Thanks for including me among some of the best. In gratitude ~ Karen M. Jones
